Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief review
Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief (English)
Trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of school but that's the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and other assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life and they're not happy. Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy's mother, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Okay, to start this off I will first need to clarify one thing. I watched this show in a very small town called Taiping which apparently is my hometown. The cinema I watched the movie in is called.... erm, im not sure if it even has a name, however 1 thing for sure is that the seats are narrow and the screen is small. To make things worse I was seating at the 3rd front row to the right. So for the whole duration of 2hours watching the show I have to tilt my head 45 degrees and looking upward, so what I've viewed might be different from the actual scene lol.
This movie reminded me so much of Harry Potter, and after doing some research, it is very clear that they have a connection seeing that the director of Percy Jackson is the director for the first two Harry Potter movie. Remember when Harry Potter blew us away with its Hogwards and terrific story? well here's a reproduction of that experience. The fascinating CGI works are impressive as it shows the viewer many different scenes, and environment from the lively forest , medusa lair's and to the Hell castle itself. Perhaps the most intimidating scenes were the CG works for Hades which strangely similar to Diablo from Lord of The Rings. I'll drop my hats off to the plots and how good this movie looks! , the story is fun, engaging and never a dull moment. It has a solid storyline as expected from such well selling franchise.
As for the cast, the director has done well in throwing in a group of unknown or fresh casts with great potential. The main character Percy hold his pieces together and perhaps he has done a good job. But I wouldn't praise him for the emotionality as it felt as if he lacks emotion in his acting. As for the daughter of Athena, Annabeth is beautiful, graceful and portrait her role perfectly. As for the side kick Grover who happen to be a satyr, he is funny, courageous and just fun to watch. So I don't really have anything to complain about the casts as they have done their job justice.
Did I mention that I love Greek Mythology? from the lightning-wielding Zeus to Poseidon to Hades and all the other gods are just so fun to watch the war between them over the endless power struggle. I also love the sky temple shown in the show.
I have great expectations for this series as it is definitely off to a good start. However I just hope that this doesn't turns out into another Harry Potter rip off...
